Celebrities and Domestic Discipline
Have you ever looked at Hollywood and wondered which celebrities might be one of us? I have. It's something of a guilty pleasure of mine. I am absolutely convinced that there are some famous people who practice Domestic Discipline. In fact, I know there are. Not because I have any evidence, but because of the law of averages. Between movies, television, sports, YouTube and social media, there are so many famous people in this country these days that it's almost impossible that the celebrity world is completely devoid of the DD lifestyle.
Figuring out who they are, however, is the real trick. But there are a couple of people in Hollywood that I'd consider to be potential allies of the Domestic Discipline community. The first is Candace Cameron Bure. Candace openly advocates for obeying and submitting to her husband. And if you've ever seen her do so, you know she is serious. One thing I have always loved about Candace is that there isn't a fake bone in her body. She is totally real with who she is, and she never tries to be anyone other than who she really is.
Now, does she practice Domestic Discipline? I don't believe she does, but I wouldn't put it past her. I honestly feel that, if Val wanted to spank her over something serious, that Candace would graciously accept the spanking. Whatever the nature of her relationship with Val is, I feel like Candace would be one of our allies. I don't believe she would be horrified at the concept, even if she doesn't practice it herself. I believe that she would remain friends with those she knows in her real life, even after finding out that they practice DD. Of course, I could be wrong. After all, I don't know her. She could very well flip out at the entire concept. But somehow, I doubt she would.
Another potential ally we may have, in my opinion, are the ladies from Girl Defined. I am not so sure about Bethany, but I don't doubt Kristen at all. From the things Kristen says, to the way she carries herself, to the whole way she is, she's perfect for the lifestyle. Whether not not she practices Domestic Discipline with her husband is something only she knows. But of all the female celebrities out there, she's the one I'd be the least surprised about. I can say with almost 100% certainty that, if her husband really wanted to spank her for some serious rule violation in their marriage, that she'd accept it. I say this, again, just based on how she holds herself.
Speaking of Girl Defined, I have so much respect for those ladies. They started out as extreme fundamentalists. But as time went on and they explored their own opinions and values, they changed many of them. Slowly but surely, they dropped the legalistic principles, and they now present simply as normal women who believe in Christ. Former Christians like me understand how much courage it takes to do this. They were making really good money off of preaching their uptight, fundie principles. They were extremely popular in those circles. And I will never forget the very first thing they changed their mind about.
The first thing they changed their mind about was their obsession with modesty with regard to female clothing. When that first happened, they received a major backlash from the Christian community. This put a huge dent in their ministry, and in their finances. But instead of shying away from their new opinions on the subject, they leaned into them. Then they began changing their mind about other subjects as well, which only hurt their ministry and their bottom line even further.
Today, Girl Defined is defunct. They no longer do ministry. They no longer sell any kind of merchandise. They no longer host camps or speaking events or any such thing. They post on YouTube once every three months or so. Their ministry is dead. And their ministry is dead because these two ladies chose to allow it to dismantle in favor of being their true selves and being honest with their public. I can't do anything but respect that. Cuz they easily could have been millionaires by now if they had stayed on the fundie course they were on.
But back to the point. It is sometimes fun for me to wonder who among our celebrities may be practicing Domestic Discipline behind closed doors. In my heart and mind, the ladies I discussed today are doing just that 😀. Of course, we will never really know. Take Candace Cameron Bure for example. If she were practicing it (and again, I don't think she is), she would never admit it publicly. It would destroy her reputation in Hollywood and ruin her career.
But comment below. Who do YOU think might be one of us among the Hollywood elite?
